A quick note on how we keep PROMAIL.LV running smoothly behind the scenes
Today we applied the latest security and bugfix updates to our mail server. Your email accounts, messages, and data were untouched — and mail delivery continued without interruption throughout the entire process.
What we updated
We refreshed ten components of our server software, including the antivirus engine that scans every email passing through PROMAIL.LV. The new version (ClamAV 1.4.4) includes the latest virus definitions and improvements to detection accuracy, so inbound mail is scanned against the most current threat database.
Why this matters for you
Running a mail service isn't something you do once and forget. New vulnerabilities are discovered constantly, and mail servers are a favourite target for attackers. We follow a simple rule: the quieter you hear from us about updates, the better we're doing our job.
Every update on PROMAIL.LV follows the same careful process:
- A full system snapshot is taken first — so we can instantly roll back if anything goes wrong.
- Updates are applied in a controlled sequence, not all at once.
- Mail flow, antivirus scanning, and delivery are tested immediately after.
- The snapshot is kept for 24 hours before being removed — a safety net, just in case.
Zero downtime
You didn't notice anything today — and that's exactly the point. Mail continued to flow in and out. Webmail worked. Sending and receiving worked. No accounts were affected.
What's next
We have a further round of routine system updates planned for the coming days. As always, these will be applied with the same care, during quiet hours, and with full rollback protection in place.
